Day trip to Ironbridge & Blists Hill Victorian Town

Hey guys! Happy Bank Holiday weekend!

Last weekend there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and so a day trip was in order! Ironbridge Blists Hill was top of the list and away we went.

On arrival, we were greeted by welcoming, informative staff who happily answered any questions we had about the museum and the surrounding area. The first sight we visited was Lloyds bank, where we were able to swap our modern day money into old Victorian coins, which can be spent at the shops and attractions throughout the museum. This was a lovely touch and made it extra special I felt – I was overly excited about my little envelope filled with coins!

We met the absolute sweetest baby ducklings and baby chicks!

As we made our way through the streets we came across a post office, grocery store, pub and fish and chip shop. Sadly, I couldn’t have a cone of chips as they are cooked the old fashioned way – in beef fat! But I did buy some tasty sweets from the confectionary shop and the bakery.

The cutest confectionary store!

One of my favourite shops was the old post office where we got to add a wax seal to our own little letter. It was all very personal and would also be great for children. The printing shop was also excellent and the shop keeper played some little word riddle games with the customers in the shop. From here, I purchased my new favourite (hand printed!) quote.

After all the excitement we stopped off at the tea room for a pot of tea and a ploughmans lunch which was super yummy. Again, staff here were very helpful and always smiling. Perfect end to our afternoon!

On leaving the museum, we drove a short distance out to Ironbridge town and walked alongside the river. The little village has some quirky little shops and we stopped for cocktails at a bar near the river.

Hope you all have a top bank holiday!
