A little Sephora haul

Hey Everyone!

Hopefully you’re all having a top week! I know I am and ultra glad to see the end of January (it feels like we have been stuck in that month forever). Here are a few bits I wanted to share with you that I picked up from Sephora in America.

Becca Ultimate Coverage Complexion Crème | £34 for 30ml | Find it here https://www.cultbeauty.co.uk/becca-ultimate-coverage-complexion-creme.html

As you may know, I have recently been enjoying a lighter coverage on my skin and something that is more breathable. This foundation is high coverage and definitely covers any signs of redness or imperfections on my skin yet manages to do so without making my skin feel suffocated. The texture of this foundation is more of a gel consistency and fairly thick, similar to the Kat Von D Lock It Foundation. Whilst I enjoy that foundation and the coverage it gives,  I do find it very drying on my skin. With 21 percent pure pigment and 22 percent water, this is perfectly balanced to provide coverage yet allow skin to breathe.

Application & Longevity

Before application of this foundation, I like to ensure my skin is prepped with a hydrating moisturiser, followed by a primer ( I use the Becca First Light Priming Filter). I then apply one pump of this on the back of my hand and dot it into the central points of my face or where I need more coverage (generally red areas like my cheeks). Then I go in with my damp beauty blender to ensure a seamless blend into my skin. It does dry down quite quickly so I recommend working fast with this or mixing with a little moisturiser. I apply this at around 6.30 in the morning and when I leave work at 5pm it is still providing good coverage without almost any redness showing through.

Becca First Light Priming Filter |£15 For 15ml | Find it here https://www.cultbeauty.co.uk/becca-first-light-priming-filter.html

I tend to struggle with primers, simply because I want something that is going to be a solid base for my foundation yet still allow natural shine to come through and not leave my skin looking flat. That’s why this primer is a must if you want radiant, healthy looking skin. Purple hued and with a light liquid consistency, this primer really delivers on brightening skin and allowing it to naturally glow.

Ingredients & Application

Enriched with refreshing spring water, prickly pear flower, hyaluronic acid and ginger to help maintain moisture levels, re-energise skin and exhibit a ‘plumping’ effect, this primer is packed with every ingredient required for a radiant complexion. My preferred way to apply this is with my fingers although you could also use a brush or beauty sponge.

Cover FX Cream Concealer | £24 for 10ml| Find it here https://www.cultbeauty.co.uk/cover-fx-cream-concealer.html

I’m 27 years old and I have started to see my skin changing as I’m getting older, so my under-eye area requires a concealer that will hide dark circles but not settle into lines.  This concealer is creamy and easily blended, a few small dots under my eyes and on the inner corner is enough product to brighten and conceal any darkness. I find a small soft brush easiest to apply this product to ensure it’s blended out with a budding technique.

Science behind this concealer

Cover FX have packed this concealer with age-defying ingredients and antioxidants, but it’s free from the ‘inflammatory five’ (gluten, mineral oil, fragrance, parabens and talc).  With 27% pure colour pigment, this concealer is high coverage and long wearing, without settling into any fine lines around my eyes.

Kat Von D Lock It Concealer | £20 for 6.25g | Find it here http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_123016014899_-1

This isn’t the first time I have mentioned this concealer on my blog. I’ve raves about it because it is the best concealer I’ve ever used, hands down. It has been repurchased several times (I think I first purchased it in the tube and I’m not sure if it’s even still available in a tube) and I love it. It’s simply very high coverage for daily use and I feel like it could be drying out my under-eyes.

Why I love it

This concealer is creamy and ultra-blendable, with a few simple easy strokes. I can wear this all day and it does not budge. Forever my favourite.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade | £19 for 4g | Find it here https://www.beautybay.com/makeup/anastasiabeverlyhills/dipbrowpomade/

This is another repurchase for me and the only product I will currently use on my brows. Although I’m not naturally blonde, I am fair and I find it difficult to ensure my eyebrows are visible but not overly bold.
Dipbrow lasts all day long and is smudge proof, heat proof and is perfect for making my brows look neat without looking sharpie-like.

How I use
I use a clean spooly to brush my brow hair up, and begin by using my small Mac angles brush to star a line from the base of my brow about one third of the way into the brow. I fill in using small strokes and use upward tiny movements to follow the natural growth of my brow hair.

Huda Beauty Warm Obsessions Palette | £25 for 10g | Find it here https://www.cultbeauty.co.uk/huda-beauty-warm-brown-obsessions-palette.html

Ok so the packaging. I was shocked to see just how small this palette was (it fits in the palm of my hand) but it’s actually really dinky and perfect for my makeup bag. These shadows are smoothe and have little fallout, easily applied with fingers or brushes.

Eye-deal palette?

This palette is absolutely ideal to travel with and the mirror in the compact is also fab. The warm browns, reds and orange tones are flattering on so many eye colours and look great on my brown eyes
The gold glitter shade is stunning but best applied with your ring finger.

Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist | £62 for 40ml | Find it here https://londonlovesbeauty.com/products/tatcha-luminous-dewy-skin-mist-1

Ok, so you may think this shouldn’t be in a makeup haul. But seriously guys I could speak about this multi-use product all day (don’t worry I won’t). This is essentially a spray on, milky moisturiser that give a luminous, dewy complexion. The formula of this wonderful spray contains 20% botanical oils and humectants that moisturise skin, also with Hadasei-3 Anti-Aging complex.

How I Wear This

I use this on days where I want to rest my skin and not wear makeup to really hydrate my skin. But my favourite way to use this is after applying my makeup, I spritz once or twice into my skin. My makeup has that dewy look, you wouldn’t know I had any powder on at all. It’s beautiful!

Sol Janeiro Brazilian Kiss Lip Butter | £15 for 6.2g | Find it here https://www.cultbeauty.co.uk/sol-de-janeiro-brazilian-kiss-cupuacu-lip-butter.html

After discovering Sol Janeiro Bum Bum cream, I have also been enjoying there Lip butter to hydrate my chapped winter lips. It has the same beautiful scent as the Bum Bum cream and body spray and leaves lips silky soft after one application.

Ingredients

This chunky lip balm stick is infused with cupuaçu, açaí and coconut oil, to leave lips hydrated.

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Lovecraft | £17 for 3g | Find it here http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_130016013499_-1

I actually prefer the Kat Von D lipstick to the liquid lip products. I found them quite drying and not comfortable to wear, but the lipsticks are a different story. They are comfortable yet long wearing on the lips and don’t make my lips crack. It feels nourishing on my lips and I can wear it without a lip liner, knowing it won’t bleed out of my lip line.

Other shades I love

My two other favourite Kat Von D lipsticks I love are “Cathedral” and “Prayer”. Aren’t the names dreamy?
